I am currently with (IABD) and working in the capacity of a PERFORMING ARTS READINESS (PAR) Emergency Preparedness Consultant for the performing arts. My most meaningful experiences have been brought about by working with young people, creating art (visual, dance, and theater), and helping people. I have worked in many capacities, but they always came through these areas. Because of my passion for these particulars, I have committed over forty-five years of dedicated service to the arts and arts education in the District, Maryland, and Virginia area. I have given countless hours in community service and provided advice and support to aspiring arts students, instructors, future company directors, arts organizations, studios, etc. My favorite quote is an old African proverb stating, «you must always proceed as though you cannot fail.»

[11_Your Story – tell us about your life without submitting a resume. [12_Why do you want to be an CAM coach?] => I certainly find this work to enhance what I am doing in Emergency Preparedness for the performing arts. I work with marginalized arts organizations throughout the District, Maryland, and Virginia. Many have vibrant organizations with limited financial and staff capacity. They are unaware of various resources available to them, especially in a time of crisis or disaster. Being a CAM coach would certainly be a vital support to the organizations in the region and beyond.
[13_What makes you a great candidate?] => I am eager to learn more in the area of support to small to mid-size arts organizations. I have been successful in galvanizing artists and arts organizations on many levels.
[14_Have you experienced (outside of COVID) a crisis/disaster in your life or career? What lessons did you learn?] => What individual has not experienced crisis/disaster in a lifetime? The best lesson is that it’s not how you respond or react it’s how you actually recover and get back up.
[15_Why is the CAM Coach Training important to your current work?] => As I stated previously this training adds another layer of assistance I can offer in the field.
[16_Our pilot training needs to include participants who are able to prioritize this work for one year. How do you imagine using this training in your work or organization going forward? How will you ensure that you can prioritize your participation?] => This work fits into our organization (IABD) as we expand our services we will be able to certainly prioritize this into my current responsibilities. Fortunately, the training will bring me closer to our outreach to many untouched and untapped communities.
