Kai is a Community Social Worker, Wellness Activist, and Teaching Healing Artist. Kai has spent the last 15 years advocating for Black Mental Health and Wellness in her community and at the state level. Kai currently serves as the Clinical Director for the CT Coalition Against Domestic Violence where she provides education and training focusing on the impact of trauma, building resilience, and the necessity of self-care. Kai is also the Owner and CEO of Road to Resilience LLC where she is working to reduce mental health stigma and disparities in the Black community by providing opportunities for healing through the arts, radical self-love, and community resilience. As a Community Resilience Model Teacher, and Mindfulness Coach, Kai is sharing transformative wellness tools with individuals to recognize what is happening inside their bodies and how to respond appropriately. Road to Resilience also provides education and training for organizations focusing on trauma informed practices, vicarious trauma, and self-care. Kai recently published, Sankofa Family Stories Journal, an experience created for black people to feel rooted, connected, and empowered to live their best lives. Kai believes that it is imperative to prioritize self-care for the black community. Self-care is about self-preservation, and it is how we resist.
