Gretchen is an arts and culture administrator, museums professional, historian, and photographer with more than twenty years of experience working with Puerto Rico’s arts community. After hurricanes Irma and María impacted her native island in 2017, she became a first responder and for the past five years has been supporting the long-term recovery of cultural resources and its community. She is an active philanthropist, spending her free time leading the non-profit organization which she founded in 2010, Pitirre Proyectos, with the mission of supporting Puerto Rican artists careers and foster their economic growth through diverse programming. Gretchen also is an active volunteer of the Alliance for Cultural Emergencies Puerto Rico, organization she co-founded in 2019. She is currently a PhD candidate in History at the Center for Advanced Studies of Puerto Rico and the
Caribbean.
